VIVATO INSTALLATION EXTENDS REACH OF OUTER BANKS WI-FI NETWORK LOCATED IN DUCK, NC
Coverage to Extend Five Miles North and South of Popular Resort Area

SPOKANE, WA, May 18, 2005 - Vivato, Inc., a leading provider of extended-range Wi-Fi equipment, and SkyeNet Wireless Communications, a designer of wireless networks, have teamed up to expand a Wi-Fi system serving the northern end of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Centered in the thriving resort community of Duck, NC, the Outer Banks Wireless Access Network (OBXwan) will, with the addition of Vivato's powerful Wi-Fi base stations, cover more than 15 square miles north and south of Duck and into the Atlantic Ocean and Currituck Sound.

The new system will enable residents, tourists and boaters to access the Internet whether on land or sea. Future expansion plans of OBXwan, which is managed by SkyeNet, include the Outer Banks communities of Kitty Hawk and Corolla. Altogether, the Outer Banks is home to 40,000 year-round residents and some seven million tourists a year.

"After researching and testing other Wi-Fi solutions, we decided on Vivato's base stations because of their extended reach and low cost of ownership," said Frank Sicilia, president and CEO, SkyeNet. "Conventional Wi-Fi systems would be cost prohibitive and unsightly, with dozens of Access Points strung up on light poles." Sicilia said the current expansion of OBXwan was accomplished using only two Vivato base stations.

"Since the Vivato solution requires only two base stations, the cost of operating OBXwan is far lower than if we had used a conventional Wi-Fi provider," Sicilia added.

"We're excited to partner with SkyeNet Wireless to include North Carolina's Outer Banks among our growing number of wide-scale municipal Wi-Fi deployments," said Glenn Booth, marketing director, Vivato. "This installation demonstrates once again that Vivato delivers the lowest cost-of-ownership Wi-Fi solution on the market, providing dramatically greater coverage for considerably less cost than competing solutions."

The Vivato approach to Wi-Fi incorporates phased-array antennas and a patented PacketSteering™ technology to provide up to 12 times the coverage of competing Wi-Fi systems. In congested urban environments, the base stations are augmented by microcell Access Points (AP) to eliminate dead spots. By requiring fewer components, a Vivato installation also features lower networking and maintenance costs.
